Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where is the best place to snorkel on the island?
A: There are many good snorkel spots on Kaua'i. Some of the more popular and better locations are Poipu Beach, Salt Pond
Beach, Lydgate Beach, Ke'e Beach and Ha'ena or Makua Beach. Each one of these locations can be very good and safe, however,
ocean conditions can change quickly and you should always check with a lifeguard or water sport associate about the local
conditions.
Q: Do I need to bring any equipment with me for any water sports such as snorkeling, surfing or paddling?
A: No. You can find anything you need to participate in these activities and others while on island. We provide all snorkel
equipment including flotation if needed, a selection of body boards and surfboards. If we can't provide what you need, we can refer
you to someone who can. For the experienced OC1 paddlers, we may be able to arrange for canoe rental and transportation.
Q: Isn't it cheaper to purchase equipment than to rent it while we are there?
A: No. The pricing on our rental equipment is much cheaper than purchasing gear of similar quality. You can find cheaper
equipment to buy, however, it is usually of much lower quality and you won't have customer support if there are problems with the
purchased items. We also have discounted weekly packages making items even more affordable. You also don't have the headache
of travelling back home with the gear.
Q: I heard Kaua'i is laid back and slow. Is there much to do there?
A: Yes. It is true that Kaua'i is very rural and slower than many places. This is what makes the island so special. There is great
beauty and lots of open space and uncrowded areas, but there is also plenty to do here. Hiking, biking, sailing, diving, canoeing,
surfing, luau's, art shows, museum, fishing, volleyball, swimming, photography, boat tours, wine tasting, farmer's markets,
snorkeling, relaxing, fine dining, bird watching, shopping, site-seeing, helicopter rides, movies, plays, live music and much more.
Q: What is the one thing we must do while on Kaua'i?
A: There is no one answer to this one. We are a little biased and think that outrigger canoe rides or surf lessons might be among
the top five things. Whatever you choose to do while on Kaua'i will be memorable. It all depends on your adventure level, your
budget and your willingness to try something new or different. One thing anyone can do is snorkel.
